Luftforsvaret i Kongo 1960-64
Abstract
During the Congo-crisis from 1960 to 1964, the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) contributed with military troops and materiel. This was in support of the UN operation (ONUC) established through resolution 143 from the security council as a consequence of insurgencies following Congo’s independence from Belgium. The RNoAF supported the mission mainly with transport assets and personnel. A Norwegian AAA battalion was also in operation for a short period. The transport assets and personnel maintained and operated both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. This report contains four papers concerning the different aspects of the Norwegian contribution in Congo. The papers are written by cadets at the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy.
