In this study Nils A. Røhne draws a line from the Norwegian debate about European integration in the 1990s, to the very first attempts to shape a European policy in newly independent Norway in the 1920s. The questions of European integration were put on the agenda in the late 1920s and early 1930s by the French minister of Foreign affairs, Aristide Briand. In 1929 he proposed the projects of a European federal union to the Assembly of the League of Nations. What was the Norwegian reaction to Briands initiative?
