It is not logical to postulate the deadline of American commitment to Norway while the U.S. is fighting simultaneously to keep NATO the primary security organ in Europe. The U.S. commitment to Norway is symbolic of the U.S. commitment to NATO. Failing to meet the challenge in the North would mean the loss of the U.S. voice in shaping European security and consequently a lost opportunity to ensure U.S. security.
