Consequences of START for the Nordic Region
Description
On the 31 of July in 1991, the START agreement, which obliged the United States and the former Soviet Union to reduce the number of long-range nuclear weapons, was signed in Moscow. In this study, Tomas Ries discusses the role of the Nordic area in the US and Soviet strategic nuclear relationship, and explores the consequences of the START agreement for the Nordic area, on a political and a military level.
